Ashlen Paustenbach, DPT
As a young child, Ashlen remembers seeing her mom come home from work genuinely happy. At the time, she didn’t fully grasp what her mom did, but knew that she went to work each day to help people. As Ashlen got older, she became more intrigued about the medical field and slowly began to understand why her mother seemed so content in her line of work. She entered into the Bachelor’s program in 2014 at University of California San Diego with an eye on a medical career, but was still undecided of the discipline. After exploring various medical careers, she, like her mom, was drawn to the physical therapy profession. “Physical Therapy is unique, because you get to form a bond and relationship with your patients throughout their entire healing process. It is an honor to get to celebrate a patient’s victories!” states Ashlen. In July 2020, Ashlen was given the opportunity to start her career after obtaining a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of California San Francisco/San Francisco State University.
Ashlen works with patients of all ages and activity levels from sedentary individuals to highly active populations on a variety of issues including pre-/post-surgical care, balance issues, orthopedic and sports injuries, and vestibular rehabilitation. She delivers care through continued patient education and a tailored treatment plan. As a previous swimmer, she has a particular interest in caring for those suffering from shoulder injuries. She values providing multi-disciplinary treatment for her patients including developing an exercise program, performing manual therapy, and utilizing modalities to ease pain caused from inflammation.
Away from RPT, Ashlen and her fiancé keep very busy in their free time. They enjoy activities such as hiking, playing board games, renovating their newly purchased home, and planning their upcoming wedding. We are fortunate to have her in our practice and appreciate her compassionate nature and keen eye for detail.
